I moved to the Franklin, NC in 1989, I actually came to visit and never left. I fell in love with the mountains and the people instantly. The beauty that the Western North Carolina mountains has to offer is just beyond imaginable. The Franklin area has so much to offer, small shops, an actual main street, waterfalls, gem mining, community activities, hiking, fishing, boating, great restaurants and beautiful year round scenery. The added bonus to Franklin is that in 1 hour you can be in Asheville, NC which has malls, an airport and everything a larger city would have. In 2 hours you can be in Atlanta, GA and in 45 minutes you can be in Cherokee, NC. We are conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway and you can be in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, TN in approx. 2 hours. Absolute country living but close enough to everything else that a person could possibly need.
